SPEECH AND LANGUAGE THERAPY (SLT)

Since September 2019, JLH has partnered with Faith Audiology Speech Therapy (FAST) to provide speech and language rehabilitation services to persons with hearing loss in northern Uganda, aiming to improve their communication and quality of life.

How slt works

JLH implements SLT services in collaboration with Faith Audiology Speech Therapy (FAST), a nonprofit health organization promoting communication disability awareness and hearing health. FAST offers:

  • Speech and language assessments

  • Hearing tests and ear screening

  • Rehabilitation services

  • Community education on ear hygiene and public otology

This partnership is formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) outlining the provision of SLT services to People with Communication Difficulties (PWCD) in Gulu, Uganda.

Goal: To improve the quality of life for PWHL by increasing their access to audiology, counselling, sign language, and rehabilitation services, ultimately enhancing their ability to communicate.
