Stories of transformation across Uganda
Behind every programme is a story of restored dignity, renewed faith, strengthened livelihoods, safer families, and communities discovering their own God-given resources for lasting change.
Stories from CCMP and CCMP-ALP show how training is unlocking leadership, confidence, and local action.
Agriculture, enterprise, and resource mobilization are helping households build sustainable futures.
Community support, referrals, safeguarding, and care are helping survivors rebuild with dignity.
Every transformation begins with one step
JLH measures impact not only in activities completed, but in people empowered, families restored, churches mobilized, and communities strengthened for long-term resilience.
These success stories bring together testimonies from the Church and Community Mobilization Process, the CCMP-ALP Integration Project, agriculture livelihoods, CEK CAM, WET Consultancy, gender mainstreaming, and child protection work.
Some stories are deeply personal. Others show collective transformation through churches, farmers, households, and community-based initiatives. Together, they demonstrate how faith, mindset change, practical skills, and community ownership can create lasting change.
Three journeys that tell the bigger story

From despair to hope
Lucky Phiona, a young mother serving with PAG Church in Kasese City, went through a painful season of abandonment, separation from her child, and emotional distress.
Through CCMP training, Bible studies, and community reflection, she began to recognize resources and opportunities around her that could help her rebuild her life.

From silence to service
Mr. Kiama Erick, a 58-year-old member of Corner Baptist Church, had long been a quiet and faithful church attendee who had never taken on leadership or publicly shared the Word of God.
After the CCMP-ALP Envisioning Training, he began to reflect on purpose, mindset renewal, and the role every believer can play in God’s mission.

Household growth through stewardship
Pr. Oringa Remijo, a father of seven, faced recurring household challenges related to school fees and food security.
After attending the CCMP-ALP Envisioning Training, he applied lessons on stewardship, planning, and the use of locally available resources.

Growing markets. Growing farmers.
What began as a small social enterprise with limited capital in 2021 has steadily grown into a promising agribusiness initiative transforming livelihoods in Northern Uganda.
Through bulk produce purchasing, organized aggregation, buffer stock management, improved market coordination, and grain milling, CEK CAM has helped farmers access more dependable markets and fairer pricing opportunities.
The enterprise continues to contribute to economic empowerment, food security, reduced post-harvest losses, value addition, and livelihood improvement across the region.
The wider impact behind the testimonies
Each number represents people, churches, households, and communities participating in transformation.
What transformation sounds like

Mr. Kiama Erick, Corner Baptist Church
“I have learned that God has already given us resources. It is our responsibility to use them well.”
Pr. Oringa Remijo
“Transformation begins with me.”
Kithoma Charity Alliance community motto
Every story points to a future filled with dignity and hope
As communities discover their potential, strengthen their resilience, and take ownership of development, JLH continues to walk alongside them through faith, service, livelihoods, health, protection, and partnership.

From Silence to Service: Mr. Kiama Erick’s Transformation
Mr. Kiama Erick, a 58-year-old member of Corner Baptist Church, had long been a quiet and faithful attendee in church life. While consistent in worship and participation, he had never taken on any leadership role or publicly shared the Word of God.
This began to change after he participated in the CCMP-ALP Envisioning Training. The sessions emphasized self-reflection, discovering personal purpose, and recognizing that every believer has a role in God’s mission.
Encouraged by these insights, Mr. Erick gradually stepped out of his comfort zone. He began actively participating in church discussions and, for the first time, took the initiative to lead Bible sharing sessions within his congregation.
Impact Highlight
This story demonstrates deeper transformation through CCMP-ALP: building confidence, spiritual leadership, and active participation in community faith life.

From Household Struggles to Sustainable Growth: Pr. Oringa Remijo
Pr. Oringa Remijo, a 49-year-old married man and father of seven children, has faced persistent challenges related to school fees and food security. His perspective shifted after attending the CCMP-ALP Envisioning Training.
The sessions helped him reflect on stewardship, planning, and responsible use of locally available resources. He established a one-acre cabbage garden, applied improved agricultural practices, and invested in coffee planting and tree species.
Expected Benefits
- Income from cabbage production to support school fees
- Improved household food security
- Long-term financial stability through coffee and tree-based investments
His transformation is encouraging church members and community members to adopt similar practices.

From Despair to Hope: Lucky Phiona
Lucky Phiona, a young mother serving with PAG Church in Kasese City, experienced a painful season when she felt abandoned and separated from her child.
Her life began to change when she participated in CCMP training through her local church. Through Bible studies and community reflection, she began to understand that God had already placed resources, abilities, and opportunities around her.
With encouragement from church leaders and partners, Lucky was linked to production activities through JLH and later began sewing reusable sanitary pads as an income-generating activity.
After months of effort, she was reunited with her child on 6th February 2026. Today she is employed at Her Pride Productions Centre and uses her testimony to encourage other women facing hardship.

From Struggle to Stability: Sibunabirwa Jamila
Sibunabirwa Jamila, a 45-year-old mother of eight from Kyabikere, Kithoma-Kanyatsi Town Council, shares a testimony of transformation through Kithoma Baptist Church and its community initiative.
Through a soft loan of UGX 200,000, she started making bricks and eventually constructed a permanent four-room house for her family. She later expanded into piggery, poultry, small-scale agriculture, cocoa farming, and cassava flour trading.
Beyond economic transformation, Jamila testifies to spiritual growth, improved family wellbeing, and strengthened community relationships.

Stewardship in Action: Patrick Okello’s Orchard Transformation
Patrick Okello, a farmer and member of True Vine Baptist Church in Gulu District, experienced a major shift in mindset after participating in CCMP training.
Previously, he viewed his farm mainly as a source of income. Through CCMP teachings on resource mobilization and stewardship, he began to see his land as a God-given resource for service and ministry.
Patrick later committed part of his farm produce to support his church and contributed UGX 240,000 from fruit sales. His farm is now a platform for generosity, ministry, and community impact.

Youth Empowerment: The Story of Apoko Franka
Apoko Franka, a school-going youth at Paicho Baptist Church in Gulu, represents the growing impact of CCMP among young people.
After attending sessions on resource mobilization, she began producing liquid soap at home. Her business grew, and she now supplies soap to local clinics and restaurants.
Franka also donates soap to her church for fellowship use, showing generosity and community service.

From Renting to Owning: Lacor Mixfarm Baptist Church
Lacor Mixfarm Baptist Church experienced transformation through CCMP after years of renting a video hall for worship services.
During CCMP sessions on visioning and resource mobilization, members reflected on what God had already placed within their community. This led to a collective decision to mobilize resources for land acquisition.
The church purchased its own land, constructed a pit latrine, and built a church structure. Ownership strengthened unity, participation, and spiritual growth.

Getrice’s Journey to Overcoming GBV
Getrice, a mother of three boys, experienced emotional and economic violence after being left without support for two years. Her children dropped out of school for a year due to lack of school fees.
JLH’s intervention in Kasese brought renewed hope through case management, emotional and spiritual support, material support with food, and help addressing accumulated debts.
The spouse was also engaged and later began paying for at least one child to attend school.

The Success of Smart Farming: Mr. Okello Robert’s Journey
Mr. Okello Robert, a 42-year-old pastor at Langol Baptist Church, invested in watermelon, cabbage, and groundnuts and reaped strong returns from his farm.
- Watermelon: earned UGX 3,000,000
- Cabbage: earned UGX 1,500,000
- Groundnuts: earned UGX 1,320,000
In total, he earned UGX 5,820,000 from his farming ventures. He completed construction of his two-room house, purchased household items, and reinvested in more farming activities.

Olyel Richard’s Journey from Farming to Financial Stability
Olyel Richard, a pastor and farmer, welcomed the support connected to ALP and CEK CAM. He planted two acres of maize and sold 2,225kg to CEK CAM.
With the income, he began produce trading, generated additional profit, bought one acre of land, and supported school fees, medical fees, and other family needs.
His story shows how reliable markets and farmer support can strengthen household stability.

Clean Water for Pabala Ribe-Ber
In Pabala Ribe-Ber, school-going pupils previously had to leave school early to fetch water from a nearby spring that was also used by animals.
After WET drilled a borehole for the community, children no longer needed to leave school early to collect unsafe water. They could concentrate better in school and their performance improved.
The borehole represents improved access to clean water and better learning conditions for children.

Stories of Transformation in Child Protection
JLH responded to a severe child protection case involving a young girl who needed urgent medical and psychosocial support.
The team helped with medication, referral, hospital follow-up, encouragement, and safe care planning. After three months of treatment, she was discharged and moved to a safer caregiving environment.
This story reflects JLH’s commitment to strengthening protection for children from abuse, neglect, exploitation, and other forms of violence.
